Enjoy some of the biggest names in jazz against the stunning backdrop of Newport Beach

American trumpeter Louis Armstrong once said, “If you have to ask what jazz is, you’ll never know.” Beloved for its smooth and bluesy style, jazz has long been something that can only be felt, not explained. If you’re looking for a place to experience some of the most notable classic renditions in Southern California, head to the Newport Beach Jazz Party, which takes place February 13th to 16th at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa.

The four-day affair will include nightly concerts, poolside jazz sessions, and champagne jazz brunches. Featuring over 100 artists, the weekend event brings together up-and-coming and established performers alike.

The one-of-a-kind soiree kicks off on Thursday, February 13th, with musical performances by the Jeff Hamilton Trio, Tom Scott, and the Scott Hamilton quartet. Friday festivities include performances by Graham Dechter with Tony Monaco and Chuck Redd and the Christian Jacob Trio with special guest Ken Peplowski. Saturday includes performances by the Katie Thiroux Trio with Matt Witek and the Nick Parrot Trio. On Sunday, a full lineup of performers such as the Las Vegas Academy Band will take the stage. There will also be a private concert for patrons with music and a meet-and-greet featuring Shelly Berg, James Morrison, Nicki Parrot, and Joe LaBarbera. The party wraps up on Sunday with performances by Veronica Swift with Shelly Berg, Scott Hamilton and Charles Turner, and others.

If you’re looking to learn more about these performers before the event, head to the Listening Room on the Jazz Party’s official website, where you can find biographies of the artists, as well as, a sampling of their music. If you’d like a souvenir to commemorate the experience, the website also has merchandise available for purchase, including hats, polo shirts, and a limited edition charity painting by renowned jazz artist Katie Thiroux.

Though there will be several brunches throughout the event, the venue also serves delicious cuisine at Hook & Spear. Sit down for a delicious breakfast of avocado toast or acai, a lobster or steak dinner, or simply unwind and grab a cocktail between acts.
